Mini Vacation in Galveston Texas

Well as usual we are all over the place, we're in south Texas at this point in eternity. Furlough is going great, tiring but great. This week our family (Mom and Dad in-law, sister and brother in-law and of course Madison the sweetest little 2 year old around) came down and are taking their vacation this week. We headed to Kemah Boardwalk yesterday evening. The kids had a wonderful time and despite it being a tourist trap it was a wonderfully family oriented place; no bad music or swimsuits. It was very nice. The kids rode the rides tons of times and really had a good time. I rode a few too but I realize I'm not as young as I used to be. The Pharaoh's Fury (rocking boat) mad be terribly scared and a bit sick. Oh well it had to happen sometime. :0)

Today we're going to see Houston Space Center. Actually the men in the family are headed to the space center and the ladies are headed to the shops!!!! Yes, shopping with no men!!! Does it get any better than that?
Tomorrow evening we have a meeting with Bible Baptist so we'll have to do something small so we will have time to prepare for the meeting.
On Thursday and Friday we are going to Moody Gardens. It's a very nice place, they have 3 or 4 huge pyramids and lots of 3D Imax theatres about nature and stuff. It really is big enough to fill two full days.

Anyhoo, this is what we're doing this week. We were down here anyways so it's nice to spend the time with the family.

Sunday we will be so far south we'll be on the border of Mexico. Down where the tarantulas run free.

"Family Photo"
I know it's not politically correct but it's hillarious and I've never been very politically correct anyhow. :0)

Cell Phone vs. Bible

Psalms 12:6,7 "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in the furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phones.

*What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets

*What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it

*What if we flipped through it several times a day

*What if we used it to receive messages from the text

*What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it

*What if we gave it to kids as gifts

*What if we used it as we traveled

*What if we used it in case of an emergency

*What if we had to upgrade because ours is worn out

It's just something to think about... Something to make you think?

So which is more important to you – Cell phone or Bible?

The Dangerous Book for Boys

This just happens to be the most wanted book in our house at the time. The Dangerous Book for Boys authored by Conn Iggulden and first published in London is the book that every boy in the US needs to read, outside the Bible of course. It's chapters include everything from making a pin hole camera to a whole chapter on girls and how to treat them. Really, this is a great book. You can read a pretty conprehensive review here.

I first heard about this book from my best girl friend, she was telling me that they had rabbit for dinner (yuck). I asked her why in the world she would make rabbit for dinner and she told me the whole account. Apparently her dear husband who is a great pastor friend of ours in Texas, bought the book and really enjoyed it. Sitting outside at their country home a little rabbit made it's way right past him the one thing the little cotton tail didn't know is that out pastor friend had just finished the chapter on skinning game. Quickly grabbing his trusty side arm he sighted and really brought home the bacon, or actually the rabbit. :0) Apparently this book is not only for those 18 and under, adults seem to like it too.

Really we have too many "soft" boys in our society today, too much pampering being done by us moms. There is something said for protecting our boys but something needs to be said about making them soft and girly. Our boys need to be getting dirty, discovering nature and learning skills that will last a lifetime. My free 2 cents worth. :0)

Anyhoo, I'm about to order if my Josh who will be turning 12 in 8 days. This along with a pocket knife we're two of his top birthday wishes.

Happy Reading!
**Just a point, I don't endorse all that this author writes or his publisher. Buy the book at your own risk. K?? Okay!

Throwed Rolls!!!

Well we all have a new favorite cafe to eat at, LAMBERTS CAFE. Have you ever been there? Wow it's worth the trip and for most people it would be a trip since there are only 3 in the US.

Lamberts is a very unique place, they throw rolls, hence the title throwed rolls. :o) Oh yea and if your going make sure you haven't eaten in quite a while. They feed you so much it's almost a waste. I ordered chicken friend steak with mashed potatos and cole slaw, well I thought that was what I would get but boy was I mistaken. My food came and it was just what I ordered but huge portions. They do a wonderful thing, they bring around pans and bowls full of goodies. By goodies I mean friend potatos and onions, beans, fried okra, cole slaw, and of course all the throwed rolls you can eat.

The one thing I would suggest is make sure you brush up on your catching before hand. They have been seen throwing the rolls from 30 feet away. It was a wonderful experience.

Hannah had a birthday on Sunday so we celebrated with her at Lamberts. They were wonderful and honored Hannah with a heaping bowl of banana pudding. Yummy!!

Okay as we travel, sometimes we get a good laugh from the "special" people across America. This is a sign that one of those special folks posted, I thought it was too funny to pass by. E-mail me if you don't understand. :0)

Oh yea, i didn't title this post because Blogger is acting funny and wont let me click in the Title space, go figure!! I would have titled it "How many hours in a day?"
