My Word for 2016

I have always been curious about New Year's resolutions and if people actually keep them. I don't usually make any other than the unspoken, "lose weight". Usually the 31st of December slips into the 1st of January and things stay the same.
As a perfectionist, (yes, I have come to grips with my condition, you know admitting it is the first step) I don't usually shoot too high for fear of failure so resolutions are scary. Perfectionists usually do things really well but they we don't accept failure very well. We tend to be very competitive and failing to achieve a goal could thrust us into some serious depression. So, making resolutions is a major no-no for me so I've decided to do something a little less reckless. I've seen others do it in the past and it's actually a really good idea. So I have chosen a word for my inspiration word for 2016.

Consistency isn't something I really have a huge problem with. I am actually very consistent in the things that "really matter" but I tend to fall off the wagon on the things that "just matter". I don't have a problem with getting in my Bible time every morning. I just do it. I know it's important to hear what the Lord has to say every day so I make sure to get that in consistently because it "really matters". I don't have a problem doing whatever I need to to make sure my husband is happy because he "really matters". I never have to decided to go to church because that "really matters".  But when it comes to things that "just matter" like quilting, blogging, running or crocheting I tend to be very inconsistent. Sadly, those of you who faithfully read my blog know that I'm a sad poster girl for a faithful blogger. I always mean to make time for blogging but since it "just matters" it falls by the wayside.
So, for 2016 my inspiration word is CONSISTENCY. Consistency in the things that "just matter". I want to quilt consistently. I know it doesn't "really matter" but it does matter a little to me. I know my blog isn't life changing but it matters to me. So, I am going to practice being consistent in the things in my life that "just matter".
Since I'm being so consistent in the things that "just matter" like blogging; I'll be back real soon!! Promise!
What about you? Do you have an inspirational word for 2016?

  1. Good to see a post from you! Hope you and your husband had a great Christmas. I'm assuming you weren't able to be with your kids this year - which makes it hard.

I have not done resolutions for years. They were usually forgotten within a few short weeks. I like the idea of goals, though. Even if I don't make them all, I get farther than I would have without them. But I have found I need some kind of regular checking in on them and evaluating them for them to work. I have never felt led to choose a word for the year but I know many people do and benefit from it.

  4. No special word, just a prayer that this year will be a healthy one for my husband and that I will remain in His strength.

  5. Happy New Year, Tori! Consistent is a great word to focus on, I hope you'll be able to stick with it. :) My word is FAITHFUL. It wasn't one I wanted, but the Lord showed me this word when I specifically asked him what he wanted me to work on. Receiving his answer made it a whole lot easier for me to rally around this word. Did you get my email I sent at the first of last month? I think it went to the yahoo email. Let me know if you didn't get it and I'll send it again. Have a beautiful weekend.

    1. Lori, that's a great word. Can you send the email again? Someone sold my address and my inbox was filled with garbage so i probably deleted your mail.

  6. You chose a great word! The word that I have chosen is grateful. I can fall into the trap of being jealous at what I don't have instead of being grateful for all that God has blessed me with. I am far too ungrateful and take the blessings He has given me, for granted. Like air to breathe! Today I am grateful for the air.

  7. Happy New Year! I like your word for 2016... that's good!

My word for the year is FAST. Something that is sorely lacking in my life! I'm enjoying doing a word study on fasting, and Fridays are now going to be my Facebook fast days. :-) Lord willing, this will be an area I grow in this year!

  9. Happy New Year to you! I like your word! And...it surely benefits your blog readers, heh? :) I don't usually come up with a word although I've seen lots of bloggers who do. Good choice for yours. I also don't make resolutions. I just try to do the best I can with the Lord's help. Hope your 2016 is a productive and enjoyable one!

  10. Happy New Year and welcome back to Bloggy world! We missed you. My choice word is Healthier (which I actually started working towards in November). However, I plan to move forward on becoming healthier on more levels this year.
