A weighty goal for the new year

I know it's nothing new or different and I'm only 1 among the millions but I have a goal to lose weight in the new year.
It's too bad that food isn't like drugs or alcohol, there is very little stigma about eating and it's not like you can just quit cold turkey. If it were possible to just not eat anymore I'd have it made. I'm an all or nothing kinda girl. Moderation is not my middle name, it's a tough thing for me. It stinks to be that way, and it's a bummer but it tends to overlap in the rest of my life. I have to jump in with both feet and do it really well or I just won't try.

Anyhow, here we go. My goal is to lose 30 lbs by April 1st. Yes I know that's more than the recommended 2 lbs. a week but not much more, only 2 lbs more a month.  In April we'll be taking our middle son Josh to the states to graduate high school and get him set to start Bible college in the Fall. I want to shop for clothes that look good while Stateside so I better get busy.

Because I'm such a chicken I won't be posting my actual weight but I will post my weekly loses and how close I'm getting to that 30 lb. goal.

I know there are a ton of you out there with the same goals so let's get with it. We can do it, lets go!!! Let me know if you're starting too, I'll keep and eye on you and you can do the same for me.

  5. I hope to lose weight this year, too. I would like to lose about 30 pounds by my birthday (June 12th) and then down to my goal weight by the holidays next year. We'll see how it goes!

  6. Hi! I began a serious healthy lifestyle last year, and have seen great changes already! I would encourage you to keep up the good work! My family didn't think I needed to lose weight really, but I actually ''accidentally'' lost 13 pounds just from avoiding sugars and white flour entirely! As well as overeating. (I also try to eat more vegetables than fruit).
I also exercise 5-6 times a week of course. Anyway: I believe anyone can accomplish their goals, especially as Christians because the Lord will help them!

    Be strong!

  7. You can do it! Losing weight (and keeping it off) can be one of the toughest things. My husband and I have been dieting since August. He's lost 25 and I've lost 14. Through the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) we didn't actually stick to our daily calorie intake but both of us managed to not gain...which was a big relief. Now, we've got to refocus. I need to lose about 15 or 20 more pounds. It's hard, but we can do it!

  8. I think it's so cool that you are a missionary wife! I am a pastor's wife. How lovely to be sisters in Christ!

I have a bloggy friend who is living in Spain right now, and a few friends who are missionaries in other countries.

Today was the first day of my diet, so I am so "with" you on the whole losing weight thing.

I am on myfitnesspal.com. It's free. You can use it to keep track of the calories you're eating.

I thought I would never want to do that because it seemed like a lot of work. But MFP kind of does a lot of the work for you, as some foods are already in the system via other members, etc.

You can check it out if you want. It's free. It also has a community of people on it who answer questions or just encourage each other along the way.

Thank you for your sweet words about my blog! I look forward to visiting with you again!

  9. Oh how fun! I will totally find you on there. I will start posting what I eat tomorrow. It's great for accountability.

You don't HAVE to allow people to see your food diary if you don't want to. I do it for accountability. You'll see I still eat some junk but hopefully will do better, lol!

I got my friends on there because they requested me. I did a couple of comments and so some people friended me from that. I don't know them but they leave nice encouraging comments saying "Good job" or stuff like that.

I do know three people on there who are friends. They signed up and I was like "Hey, I'm on there!" My one friend doesn't want anyone seeing what she eats, lol!

  10. Bob and I just started a diet together a day or so after Christmas. He has lost 10 and I have lost 8. Keeping it off will be the challenge. I have a new blog started. I missed it too much to stay gone and I couldn't comment on anyone's blogs I follow without a blogger account. Check it out if you get a chance. Hope all is well. Glad you are back to posting. All my bloggy friends were MIA for some time. I still checked blogs but no new posts from most of them til lately. So glad!
