Yesterday we mowed and did some cleaning up in the yard. Hey remember those little purple flowers I showed you from this post? Well look at them now, aren't they wonderful?? And to think I almost pulled them up as weeds!
Oh yea and here is my master piece, there aer two of them sitting outside the front door. I'm going to buy a nice pot to put them in if we get the money or I even thought about some nice burlap and raffeta, what do you think, the ugly black pot from the nursery isn't so nice. In case you can't tell, it's a spiral topiary. It's a little sparse now but I think it'll fill in. HGTV has a nice article about how to make a spiral topiary you can find it here and one more good link here at Dave's Garden.
I pulled up the dead Heather plants in my little garden area and planted some color. Our yard is made up of lots of low maintenance ever greens, which I love but I think it needed some color. So I planted a few of these cuties and can't wait for them to settle in.
Anyhow, the yard looks great and I'm happy.
I thought I would share this little poem that I read from the Baptist Bread devotional book. This particular devotion comes from Jay Cubbison, Pastor of Joy Baptist Church, Westland, MI.
Heaven's Eye
"And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: yea are of this world; I am not of this world." John 8:32
With awe and appreciation,
We look upon a tapestry so finely rendered.
We think of the labor and care,
The precision and dedication tendered.
Do we often look upon or seek to display,
The knotted, frazzled underside?
It is the finished from that intices delight,
And there is value we decided.
The front is beautiful and cherished,
Yet lost, except the back side.
Trust the Master as He weaves
Our beauty comes alive.
Perfect His will is in us fulfilled,
Greatly please God on hight.
Appreciate the beauty of God's work,
See the struggle with Heaven's eye.
"Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;" Psalm 33:18
"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt: I will guide thee with mine eye." Psalm 32:8
Hope you all have a wonderful Hump Day!!
I am glad that sunny days are there for you. It is still rainy and cold here in Northern Ireland. They say it rains at least 320 days a year. I should keep track of the days it rains see if it is truly true. I don't always leave a comment, but I enjoy reading your site. Thank you for your encouragement.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks so pretty and well cared for. I need to get out and weed.
ReplyDeleteLoved the poem and the Scriptures, too! Happy Wednesday!
Glad that the sun is shinning and you were able to work in your yard. I am so glad that you have a yard to work in. You have made it beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI live on the second floor of military housing so my yard is equivalent to a concrete balcony. Very low maintenance. Lord willing someday we will have a yard that I can make beautiful as well.
Love reading your blog.
Hey, Your blog is always a blessing to me, go to my blog you have won an award!! God Bless:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to have a yard to work in. I love the added color to your ever greens.
ReplyDeleteHope you continue to enjoy the beautiful weather. ;o)

Oh, to answer your inquiries...
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure how to describe what a love bug is. It's not like a rolly-polly and I'm not sure what a doodle bug is. The 'love bug' is a black 'bug' that flies and many times they are found "attached" to each other, hence the name "love bug". ;o)
Our younger children are at the beginning stages of their lessons. Will is farther along in piano but Beth is still at the very beginning and only practices playing open strings. We hope to begin Carolynne soon, too. It is a blessing that Ally is able to play a variety of instruments and is able to teach. ;o)
Happy Hump Day to you, too.

Funny my sister in law was telling me about her ant problem.. she got ants in her kitchen this week... and I said well, on the bright side.. it means SPRING IS HERE! :)
I love topiaries and have thought about getting some. I need to do some pricing. I live on the second floor and only have a balcony that gets FULL sun all afternoon. I need to find some plants that like the sun. But alas winter is on its way - I will wait for spring!

There's a lot of singing before the sermon starts. I'm watching it right now. LOL

Spring has also arrived here in the desert of Mexico. Unfortunantly, since it is a desert we don't have much "green" to enjoy. But, I am enjoying the warm days and cool evenings. We are able to take our family walks through the neighborhood again! Your yard is beautiful! Enjoy spring!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't on the computer yesterday and am now just seeing this! What a beatifully encouraging post!! It spoke to my heart and lifted me up! :-) I love being watched by the Creator's eye :-)
