July 5th, 2008, Just Stuff

Wow, it doesn't even seem like we should be half way finished with 2008 already, time really does fly! I don't know which it is, Time flies when your having fun or time is fun when your having flies either way, time really goes by fast.

We have several things going on right now that really demand alot of time.

We are starting a new church in a different town here in Croatia. We have rented the building, of which I may take a picture and post. Since rented buildings many times come with out light fixtures, toilets, sinks and so on, we are busy putting those in. We have a toilet and lights and soon we'll have a sink. The building is lovely, very European looking with big dark beams across a stark white ceiling. I'm looking forward to decorating it, gotta come up with a color scheme though and Johnny said it's my thing and he doesn't want to have to deal with it, so I have free license to do what I want. YEA!

Our first service will be the 3rd of August and then we will have meetings every Sunday morning and Thursday night. While working at the new work we'll still be attending meetings at the first church we planted. Johnny isn't the pastor any longer but he still teaches adult Sunday School so we need to be there for that and then we'll also be attending Wednesday night prayer meeting there. I know I'm rambling and my sentence structure stinks, but I'm in a hurry so bear with me!

Also we're looking at a possible move. We currently are having alot of problems with our Landlord and we're praying he will let us out of our contract. We'll see.

Onto something a bit more positive now, we have found a place at the river, very secluded and we got to take the kids last week. The water looks green but really it wasn't, it was very clean so clear that you could see the bottom even in the deeper water. It's a really good place, it takes about 20 minutes on dirt roads to find it and then a 4 minute walk to get to the water. We like it because no one goes there and we can be alone. If someone does come it's okay we can leave, we all swim in our clothes so that's good. Anyhow, here's a few pictures from that.

This river is great because it runs out of the Alps so the water is always running and very clean. There are also fish in the river, it's cool to swim with the fishies. We have snorkles so we can watch the fish.

Oh yea and I have had sewing fever lately. Now that I know how to follow a pattern, I'm hooked!! I bought several patterns while in the states and now I'm going to attempt them. I have this cute little skirt pattern that I'm going to make for Hannah but longer of course. :0)

Well the 4th rolled around here in Croatia without much toodoo about it, It always does. We can't wait for other missionaries to come so we can actually have someone to celebrate with. Anyhow, hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating our Independence day.

  4. The river is beautiful. Is the water very cold? Congratulations on the new church, I will be praying for you. The decorating sound like fun. An open palette can be interesting. It's awful when you have problems with your landlord. Been there, done that! Will pray about that too. We are in the opposite situation, we want to move because of location, but we LOVE our landlords....Have as great week, susan

  10. Tori,
A new church! Praise the Lord! Is the new church going to be in the area where a good many of the souls were saved recently? I remember you asking prayer for that....

I'm glad you had a nice time as a family at the river. Praise the Lord for times like those.

  11. Looks like KD was having as much fun as the children.
    :)

Y'all found a great spot there.

I can't wait to hear about your new church. Is the Pastor of the first church a local pastor or another missionary?

I pray that things go well with the new church. May God continue to use you all to bless others with the gospel!

When I was in Yugoslavia (22 years ago, before it split), I remember the 4th being a big deal. I think it was a Serbian independence day. Anyway, I guess that wouldn't matter much to Croatians now, would it?

    Have a great week.

  18. Tori,
How exciting about the new church! I appreciate your sacrifice and service for the Lord! And how fun to find a great new place to swim! I LOVE finding a new, tucked away place to play in the water and take the kids. We hope our little ones can learn to swim this year. We have a lake that we love to go to, but it is often crowded. I look forward to your next post!
