Remember being a kid and going to the drive-in movies?? Well my family wasn't saved and I remember going to the drive-in to see a few movies, sitting on the hood of my Dad's old 57 Chevy pick-up and eating popcorn, what memories.
Anyhow I told the kids the other night that we were going to a drive-in, they were like, "What's a drive-in?". Made me feel old! I explained what it was and then we proceeded to make our own, minus the classic truck.
I found an old flat bed sheet and hung it from the balcony.
We then set up our high-tech video station. Praise the Lord we got to use this equipment for more than just showing our presentation in churches. **Hey missionary friends, this may be something you can do on family night and give you a change to use that projector, it was sure fun.
The technician (sweet hubby) checked and double checked all the gear. Our dog KD, whom we cherish, was close by to make sure Johnny did everything right. :0)
Then in total darkenss, which you can't tell because of my flash on my camera, we watch the movie, it was so much fun until the dew started, then we began to feel a bit damp, luckily the movie was only 96 minutes long.

What a great idea, Tori!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun, Tori!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea! Wish I had all that fancy missionary gear around here ;) Glad you all had a nice evening together.

Looks like ya'll had fun:) We've used our projector to watch movies before, but we've never done it outside that is such a great idea:)
ReplyDeleteWe gave our projector to another missionary family at the end of our last conference,so we can't do it now, but we used to shoot the movies up on the wall and have a "big screen". We'd do it in hotel rooms and prophet chambers . Anything to calm 5 kids down that were stuck in a very tight space!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Tori!!
What a great idea! I miss drive-ins (but not the mosquitoes).
ReplyDeleteThis is a memory your children will cherish in years to come.
~Elaine~
Oh HOW FUN!
ReplyDeleteI would SO love to do that.. one small problem... no fancy gear! :)
Looks like a perfect family evening!
What a great idea. Im 26 and I remember the drive in. We went one time when free willy was playing. The showed the fugitive and all of us kids ended up falling asleep. Then when free willy came on the parents tried waking us up but they had no luck. I do remember it was a lot of fun though!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! (And thank you for stopping by my blog!) Hope to get to know you better.
ReplyDeleteMy family was not (are not) saved either and we too went to the drive-ins. What a wonderful idea and great memories for you children.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about??? LOL!!! I am 25 years old and we actually have a drive-in close to where we live.
ReplyDeleteDrive in...that was my first job....do I remember or what?

I promise that I'm actually looking at pictures from my yard and not yours...our house is almost yellow (dark cream color) we have those awesome shades on the outside of our windows and we always have clothes hanging on those drying racks in the background! ~~~~ Small world, huh?! :)
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the traffic lights here and in what order they change. Well, they change in the same order they do in The States. Which is different I guess from Croatia??? Do they warn you with a yellow light that it's about to turn green?
How creative and lots of fun! (o:
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea. That looks like so much fun. I better not tell my hubby about this one or he will want to buy all the equipment and do that here. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog...and commenting! I read your blog faithfully via bloglines, but I must say that I don't comment too often. Shame on me. I'm going to get better about that.
