Blogs of Beauty Awards

I read on another blog about nominating for the Blogs of Beauty Awards. I wanted to make it know that I do not qualify for the award so please do not nominate me, not that I think hundreds of ladies are chomping at the bit to throw my name in the pot. :o)

There is a list of guidelines at A Gracious Home blog that all nominees must met. I want to make it known that I am not in agreement with these guidelines.
I totally understand that not all people believe as I do and I mean no offense whatsoever to Sallie over at A Gracious Home.

I would just suggest you read over the guidelines before you nominate a blog. To find out more about the NICENE CREED you can go here.

THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT, THANK YOU.

I typed it out that way to prevent spam, just replace the words with the symbols like a normal e-mail address.

  3. You're incredible! You stood up against something(very politely) that you do not believe in although it seemed a good thing, and you are a shoe-in for the honor.
I have never had a need to study the Nicene creed or any other creed for that matter. I'll look into it!
    Blessings,

Tori, I was going to nominate you! I got Mrs. B into a pickle over at Be Not Conformed. Thank you so much for your discernment. As an IFB I don't want to align myself with something contrary to the Bible.

  5. Tori, you have saved the day! I never thought twice about it. I had my husband look into it, and he immediately found several things that I had totally missed. Thanks!

I'd also like to say that I have nothing against Sallie, and I'm looking forward to seeing some new blogs through this. It's just not something I can participate in this time. I did last year, but now that I realize these things, I can't participate in good conscience. God bless you ladies!

  6. Yes Tori, thank you very much. I just scanned the creed quickly w/o paying it close enough attention.

I, like, Susan have nothing against Sallie and don't wish to be ugly but I must do as my husband wishes and refrain from participating.

And Mrs.R, no worries, it would have come up anyway! (o:

  7. Ladies,
I'm very new to this whole blogging world so I don't know the etiquette. Honestly I don't believe in etiquette when it comes to the Bible and doctrine.

I have looked at Sallies page several time and she seems to be a very sweet lady. This has absolutely nothing to do with her.

I just believe that we, as a dying breed, need to stand up and make our side known. We need to be strait about what we believe. We never know when a younger Christian is watching us for example so we must be very careful what we endorse.

I will send an e-mail out about the Creed if anyone would like a bit more info on why it's heresy.

Again, I am and was in no way bashing Sallie, I just wanted to make sure no one voted for me and that I did not agree with the TERMS OF USE. *Ü*

I believe Sallie has the right to put any stipulations on her contest as she likes. It is hers and she has that right and also the right to insist that people believe it to be eligible.

I love your site Sallie and you seem like a very sweet lady.

  8. Tori, I was "loling" at how you ended this post. But I went back and read the Nicene Creed and soon realized what you were talking about. I'm glad that you found that and brought it to our attention. And I'm glad that you took the stand that you took. And I agree....WE are a dying breed.

  9. Kristi,
Isn't it sad that we are a dying breed. Of all religions we as Independent Baptist should be flourishing. We have the Truth and the Bible, but sadly we are often times to timid to speak up.

I honestly didn't intend on causing a debate about this thing.

I have had several people ask me what is wrong with the Nicene Creed and while there are several problems in it, the main is that the Creede and the large majority of the churches who hold to it, embrace baptismal regeneration.

So this is my reason. Please do not send me e-mails telling me why baptismal regeneration is correct of why I should change my mind. It is heresy according to the doctrines in the Bible and I will not change my mind.

I do want to say, while I disagree with the doctrine that is included in the Nicene Creed and the Roman church I admire Sallie for standing for what she believes and not being ashamed to make it known.

  10. Tori, thank you for clarifying. I went back and checked and found this statement taken from the creed near the end:

"We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins."

Are you thinking the creed is meaning "water" baptism? We were thinking it meant baptism of the Spirit for forgiveness of sins as referred to in Ephesians 4:4-6.

"There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

I definitely don't believe in baptismal regeneration either. Maybe the churches who do think this is what the creed is meaning. But did the writers of the creed mean water baptism? I have no clue. I was just interested in clarifying and doing the right thing.

    Thanks!
