Weekend in Review

I tell you what, It seems like life goes from Monday to Monday. The older I get the faster the weeks pass.
This weekend our church joined the two other independent Baptist churches in Croatia and went to Rijeka, a coastal city, to pass out tracts and witness. There was a good group and one saved so far.

Okay so I'm not in the photo and there's a really good reason for that, I wasn't there.

4 weeks ago I had bunion surgery on my right foot and I'm still not walking normally, actually I'm still in a special boot; not a pretty sight. I've been down for 4 weeks and I have to tell you, I don't think I can make it much longer. I'm a "doer" and it's hard to "do" when you can't walk. I did figure something out, out of necessity. I'm a ambidextrous sewer! I had no idea I could sew with my left foot but lookie-lookie! So I finally figured that at least I could sew, so sew I did.
So I was talking to my daughter the other day, (she's married and lives in Oklahoma, 5700 miles away) anyhow, she said, "Mom, I can't believe you put a photo of your foot online, (this very photo) that's so 'old woman'."
I was like what? 46 isn't old!

I started a sew-a-long with Pat Sloan, Winter Fun Sew Along and I've got my first two blocks finished. I love fat blocks, there work up really fast and are super easy.
I've also started my own Christmas mini-quilt using Diane Bohn's My First Alphabet paper piece patterns. I'm really surprised just how easy the patterns are to follow. I'm not where close to being finished but I might as well share what I've got done, (makes me feel productive to see something). There are so many possibilities with these letters, can't wait to get some of my UFO's finished and then get creative!
So before I finish, I think I need to be a little transparent, before you guys start to think that I'm an awesome quilter or something. I started to finish one of my UFOs and was getting along pretty okay until I realized that I'm an idiot. See if you can see what I did wrong, and now it's not my free-hand quilting.
So apparently this little baby quilt wasn't even close to being ready for quilting, would have been nice if my "samwich" had had two pieces of bread.

Free Fall Desktop Wallpaper + Bonus

Can you even believe that it's October?!? It's crazy, right?
I've been recovering from foot surgery so I've not been able to walk for 3 weeks and yesterday, with the help of my crutches I walked out onto the patio and was surprised how much the leaves had turned. I came in and realized that it's time for a new desktop wallpaper.

I will tell you that I'm terribly torn between my current wallpaper (our sweet 2 year old grandson Garren) and replacing it.

BTW, if you're still looking for the bonus, getting to see my Garebear was the bonus; you're welcome.

October Already!?!

I feel a little silly saying, "I cant believe the month is almost over", 'cause I say it every month but I can't believe that the month is almost over!
September has come and almost gone and we're looking hard at October! What?!? How can it be October already? Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that it's almost October for several reasons: 1. I love punpkins. 2. I love cuddling weather. 3. I love stew. 4. It's cuddling weather (yes, I really love cuddling).
Anyhoo, for the month of October we are going to write out the entire book of Ephesians; I'm really excited about this! The overall theme of Ephesians is, "Our riches in Christ", and what a great thing to focus on for a whole month. When we realize the riches we have in Christ it only makes us love Him more.
For you all who have ink-hungry printers, there's a text only version for your delight.

You, my dear friend, are not that powerful.

The other day I saw this little saying and had an ah-ha moment. I've never shared this on my blog, (let's be honest, I haven't blogged in years), but I know now that I'm not the only one dealing with heartache.
Our oldest son has problems , no has made some bad decisions, no the truth is (it's really hard to say and even harder seeing in print) is an addict. There it is, I've said it. My son is an addict. He's a saved man but in the deep grasp of sin.
I deal with a lot of pain concerning him and then I push it down just long enough to live. Being totally honest here. I have given him to the Lord long ago and i'm good with whatever the Lord decides but still sometimes, thoughts overtake me and I must push them down until they pass.
When I saw this little saying I saw something I hadn't seen before.
If you think you've blown God's will for your life,
Rest in this: You, my dear friend, are not that powerful.
Thinking about my son, and how he's a child of God, I know God has a direct will for his life. I have decided to rest in the fact that my son, as a child of God, isn't powerful enough to ruin God's will for his life. I'm aware that God's will for his life may be not be what I think it should be but I am sure that whatever happens God will be sure to get glory from it and that's really what matters.
I will faithfully wait to see what God does in our son's life and pray all along that God will be glorified and lifted up.

Scripture Writing Challenge for July 2019

I can't believe it's already July!! Really, where is 2019 going?!? It seems like each month is turning into a new one at lightning speeds.

For the month of May we are going to be writing out Psalm 119. This Psalm is the one you cringe at when it's on the scedule to read cause it's just so long. Anyhow, this month we going to slow down and write this beautiful Psalm and let some of it sink in.

June 2019 Scripture Writing Schedule

I'm really cutting it close this month; it's been a whirlwind since we've returned home!
This month is a little different. Because of Jesus, we are many things: Ambassadors, Adopted, Beloved, and so many more. For the next 30 days we're taking a look at some of those as we daily write God's Word. Regardless where we came from we can be assured that in Christ we are complete. Simply write the passage and fill in the blank for that day. FYI, there could be more than one answer in the passage.

If you decided to join us please leave a comment. Also we have schedules dating back to 2017, you can find them under the SCRIPTURE WRITING CHALLENGE link at the top of this page. Feel free to come on over to our Facebook group, KJV Scripture Writing Challenge and join us!

1,177 Days!

What 1,177 days? Why? Well...that is exactly how many days it's been since I posted on this blog! *SHAME ON ME*
I have no idea why it's been so long or why I have totally neglected my Home Away From Home after faithfully posting here for more than 10 whole years; seriously no clue!
So as a terrible mother repents and returns to her responsibilities, I'm back!

Where have I been since February 2016? Well, right here! I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth, I'm still here living life. So many things have changed since my last post.

First big thing is that our favorite child (favorite because he gave us our first grandchild but subject to change if our next child gives us 2 grandchildren!) and his sweet wife Serina gave is our first grandson Garren Morgan; he was born on June 11, 2017!

Can I just say, I'm totally in love! You guys always told me that grandchildren were way more enjoyable than your own children and you were right on!! Garebear has stolen our hearts!

Secondly, our baby girl got hitched! Hannah married Jared Dye on January 4th, 2019.

We love our new son Jared and we love that he loves our little girl.

Then, in May of 2017 we bought a home out in the country. While it needs work, we don't mind. I'm having a great time making it ours. I'll take photos soon and share, as of right now, we've just returned from a 6 month furlough so the house is a wreck!

Let's see, what else is new? Umm, we celebrated our 19th year in Croatia on the 9th. God has knit our hearts with these beautiful people and their land.

There are so many other changes in our lives but at the very moment, I can't think of any of them.
I'm sure i'll remember everything as soon as I click PUBLISH, so i'll have to include those things int he next post.

So...I'm back!
